Crewel work
Bedspread and Duvet Covers
A special kind of embroidery is done with a pointed hook known as
crewel. Crewel work bedspreads from Kashmir are known for their superior
workmanship. The bedspread displays stunning blend of textures as well as
colors. Deep vibrant luxurious colors with intricate handwork. Crewel is done
on the thick material popularly used for furnishings and usually carries
flowing floral and creeper designs. The thick material includes hand-woven
cotton. The crewel embroidery provides a very dazzling and durable material.
All embroidery is hand done in either single or double ply. Some are designed
as duvet covers with a snap closure, for added warmth.
